Amazon, Rhapsody Gain in Digital Music Market ; iTunes Still Top Dog [view article]
Some of the off-brand services have the fatal flaw that they don't work in conjunction with Apple iPods. Amazon's service DOES, which gives it an edge vs the "also-rans", but there's no "lock-in". If I need a tune and AMZN has it but iTunes doesn't-- fine; I can use AMZN. But the next time I want music, more than likely, I can go right back to iTunes. Bought more. People aren't going to go back to typewriters. Oct 06 01:04 PMGoogle Phone: "Dream Phone" Might Be a Little Strong [view article]
It's ludicrous to compare this beast to the iPhone, but it could further demolish c**p, like anything running Windows Mobile. But who cares? Google's place in the world is search/advertising; this effort will NOT substantively add to GOOG's bottom line. And it doesn't matter; GOOG remains a buy , imo, particularly with all this bank-crisis panic selling going on. Oct 05 11:22 PMDoes Apple Need an Enterprise Strategy After All? [view article]
Historically, the DOS-bred in Enterprise have had little but hostility towards Apple. Yes, the quality gap between Mac and Windows has grown enormously in the past few years and, as a result, some Enterprise people are integrating Macs. But the "dam has not burst open" --YET--so, Apple probably feels its ad dollars are better spent focussing on the consumer, weak economy or not. The big change that needs to happen is that IT guys need to be more responsive to their USERS, most of whom woule LOVE to upgrade to Macs. Technologically, the "issues" involved in integrating Macs into Enterprise networks are quite small. Probably SMALLER than the issues involved in downgrading people from Win XP to Vista. America's Reign of Terror [view article]
"We need MASSIVE reductions in government and in government spending."Have you actually LOOKED at the Federal budget? A large fraction of it is NON-discretionary-- stuff like Social Security and Defense. The biggest source of waste is the 10-12 billion we blow in Iraq per month which the Iraqis themselves could be paying for, instead of US tax payers.
Getting us out of the Bush recession will not be easy, but it demands better solutions than "cut Government spending". In fact, it seems some kind of "rescue package" is needed-- perhaps not the exact one we're getting. Oct 03 08:24 AM

Countries that are willing to taint baby formula and ignore intellectual property law don't pass MY "sniff test", but I'm not an ex-"fast food" executive Big Pharma CEO. Oct 02 09:31 AMLicensing Deal Is Imminent for ArQule [view article]
Good article Oct 02 09:27 AMFive Reasons RIMM Will Continue to Fall [view article]
"reminds me a lot of one of the company i used work for called Novell where we had to controll, test and certify any applications"I don't think that policy was the source of Novell's problems. There biggest problem was trying exist at all during a period when MSFT had a death grip on the whole computer industry and, particularly, on Enterprise. Oct 02 09:22 AM
Five Reasons RIMM Will Continue to Fall [view article]
RIMM's weakness was obvious the day the iPhone went into production. I have been telling people is was a short term play since then. Oct 02 09:19 AMApple in the Bargain Bin [view article]
AAPL's current P/E is NOTHING for a growth tech stock. I bought on yesterday's dip. The Macintosh represents less than 10% of the computer market in the US. A smaller percentage overseas. People are NOT going to give up buying computers. Nor is MSFT going to suddenly figure out how to make an acceptable OS. Thus, the future looks bright for Apple. Sep 30 04:12 PMNot Likely to Be a Merry Xmas for Microsoft - RBC [view article]
MSFT is the GM of the 21st century. In spite of yesterday's crash, I'm looking to Apple to beat MSFT market cap by September 2009. Assuming, of course, we don't fall into a 1930's depression. Sep 30 09:55 AMApple Isn't Recession-Proof [view article]
I agree with Roger Knights, 100%.Also, I think the analysts have failed to note that it's back-to-school time, and if you need a laptop, you can't do better than an Apple model, for any price (simply because no Windows laptops come bundled with a decent OS). Sep 29 03:38 PM
Apple TV: It Could Be the End of the Line [view article]
It's an immature market. The Apple TV is clearly better than some of the hobbled-together solutions, like the XBox media center and most of the value-added cable services; but people haven't decided they "need" this kind of device yet. And Apple doesn't need great AppleTV sales for its balance sheet, either, unlike companies like TiVO. Sep 29 03:34 PMMcCain's Economics [view article]
Druude: it is not surprising the Dems would support the work Fannie and Freedie were doing-- helping people to get mortgage. But if banking regulation were sound, the 2 "F"'s would not have been able to cheat. I agree that neither party is blameless, but at least 90% of the blame has to rest with the GOP. Sep 29 03:29 PM
